The Alexandra Timber Tramway and Global Warming.
The Alexandra Timber Tramway is a concerned citizen in relation to global warming. Our operations produced seven tonnes of carbon dioxide in the financial year 2006-2007, half the annual output of the average Australian home. From 2008 these emissions will be fully offset by the purchase of forestry carbon credits. In addition, the ATT is doing everything it can to reduce its emissions, including the use of solar power to light outbuildings, and the use of energy-efficient globes wherever possible. Our steam locomotive burns wood sourced only from waste timber, which is carbon neutral. (Natural decay releases the same amount of carbon dioxide as combustion).
